August Events Around Town

It’s hard to believe we are almost half way through July! With August right around the corner, I thought I would share some fun events going on next month!

1. FIRST DAY FESTIVAL FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES August 14th at 1pm – Located at Liberty Square (by the Aquarium and Maritime Center), this free event is for children and their families to celebrate going back to school!  The Festival provides school supplies, healthy snacks, entertainment, aquarium tours, boat rides, and information on student support services. This event is a wonderful way to unite the community around an important cause, The First Day of School Initiative.

The First Day of School Initiative is a national model which generates widespread support for education. This initiative is a community-wide celebration of education that encourages parents to take their child to school on the first day, asks businesses to support parents by giving them time off to get involved in their child’s education, and enhances public engagement in our schools.
Our goal is to ensure that students are able to start school with the resources necessary to participate fully in the learning process and provide a great start to the school year.

2. BAZAAR AT THE POINT – August 28th -This free, family-friendly event happens every 4th Sunday of the month, June through October. Located at the Pavilion at the Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina, this event includes local vendors, kids activities, live music, and much more! A great event for everyone!
