Adam Gorlitsky! My Inspiration To Move Out Of My Comfort Zone

adam-rewalkMany of you know Adam as the first Paraplegic to walk the Cooper River Bridge Run/Walk, but I know him as an amazing person and friend. Ten years ago while at the wheel of his car, Adam dozed off and ran off the road. He awoke with a devastating outcome… a severed spinal cord and a new reality of life in a wheelchair.

Fast forward to last year when Adam was able to bring home the latest technology, a “ReWalk Exoskeleton” (a battery-pack based unit which he describes as a cross between Iron Man and Avatar). Needless to say, Adam is full steam ahead on this new chapter of his “walking upright” life, and he is committed to bridge the gap between what it means to be disabled and able-bodied.

My path crossed with Adam a few months back, while attending a luncheon at Tavern & Table (which, btw, I love!). Adam was the guest speaker, and little did I know, he would change my life…(well, at least my attitude). About how fortunate my life is, and how determination can help me achieve anything I set my mind to do!

A few weeks later, while at the gym (for the first time in months) I saw Adam and introduced myself.  I told him how he inspired me to up my game.  And next thing I know, his words set a fire in me… “Jackie, I challenge you to do a 1/2 marathon!”  And I, in turn said, “Adam, I challenge you to do the same.”  TOTALLY OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONES!  But we shook hands and on it and started a 24 week training program in preparation for the Walt Disney World Half-Marathon, in January of 2017.

The experience was AMAZING to say the least! And I am so proud of Adam, as he pushed himself to complete parts of the 5K, 10K and Full Marathon.

And what about my experience? I was super nervous for the run, but trained and ready. Then the bad weather came in… thunder and rain… and the Disney execs were forced to cancel the race. I looked at is my “GET OUT OF JAIL FREE” card and was thrilled to be able to skip the run and spend the day at the park with my family!  When I returned home, I was able to complete the Folly Beach “Save The Light” half marathon, and the experience was beyond words.  I would have never thought I could do such a thing, but with Adam’s inspiration, I am now proud to have the coveted “13.1” sticker on the back of my car!  Yeah!

Stay tuned to learn more about Adam and his 1 million steps tour, where he has dedicated himself to he raise money and awareness to help other paraplegics. Super inspiring stuff! Follow his journey at I GOT LEGS: Team Adam: One-Million Steps Tour.

Experience Sells!

2016 was a great year for Charleston real estate and for me professionally.  And I am thankful to my clients and friends for helping me achieve my goals!
  • I am thrilled to have SOLD MORE HOMES than any other real estate agent in the Old Village/ Old Mt. Pleasant neighborhood in 2016!*
  • I was awarded the 2016 Moultrie News BEST OF THE BEST REALTOR®!
  • I achieved the Executive Level of The REALTORS® of Distinction Award, which is their highest tier and recognizes the top producing Charleston REALTORS®.

With 6,000+ REALTORS® in the Lowcountry, it is a given that you have a friend or family member who is licensed to sell.  But you need to ask yourself… Who has the experience and knowledge to get the deal done?  And who can provide the proper guidance for a  smooth transaction while maximizing my financial gain?

The decision of who represents you in the sale and or purchase of your life’s biggest asset needs to be taken seriously.  And as you know, I live in this neighborhood, specialize my business here, and I have been a top producer in this area for many years.

I love what I do, and work hard everyday to provide superior service, expertise and advisement to my clients.  And I am thankful to have this opportunity!  If I can help, I am happy to do so.  To learn more, check out my website at www.SearchOldVillage.com or email me at Jackie@TheCassinaGroup.com.

Thanks For Voting Me BEST REALTOR!

I am sincerely appreciative to all of you who voted for me as Best Realtor 2016!  This is a huge honor for a few reasons.  First, I know past clients voted for me, and that really makes this special!   Helping clients is what it’s all about!  So thank you to my clients, neighbors and friends who reached out to tell me you voted. Second, other Realtors voted for me as well.  That is AWESOME!  So much of what we do hinges on “relationships” and I just love that other Realtors would consider me worthy of their vote!   Lastly, as corny as this is (I am really getting into this “acceptance speech thing!”) I  want to thank my family, since I know my kids got off their video games long enough to login and vote for me!  It was a fantastic moment at the dinner table when I yelled out, “I WAS VOTED BEST REALTOR, PASS THE POTATOES!”  Thanks again guys, and simply put…. WOW!

Shem Creek Park

I find that getting out and exercising during the Dog Days of Summer is less grueling if I have something pretty to look at. There is nothing like a good view to make the time pass! I have thoroughly been enjoying the new access to the Shem Creek Park from the Shem Creek Bridge. It has quickly become the highlight of my runs!
