The Post House Is Now Open!

An Old Village favorite has come back to life!  I am thrilled to learn that The Post House is officially opened for business!

The Post House is comprised of a ground floor tavern and bar and seven cozy hotel rooms on the second and third floors. Additionally, the “Rose Room” is a private events space located on the second floor, overlooking charming Pitt Street. Designed with both the local and visitor in mind, Post House is a blend of historic charm and modern amenities. The Post House team consists of owner/operators Kate and Ben Towill of Charleston-based design and hospitality firm Basic Projects (Basic Kitchen); Executive Chef Evan Gaudreau (Renzo); and Property GM Jonathan Bentley (Obstinate Daughter).

The restaurant is a casual, lively, and family-friendly spot serving simple and seasonal contemporary American food. Influenced by the region, Gaudreau’s menu features an array of seasonable snacks, raw bar options, fresh pastas, as well as local seafood, sustainably raised meats and plenty of vegetarian dishes. A James Beard Foundation Rising Star Chef nominee in 2019 and Eater  Charleston Chef of the Year2019 Gaudreau was most recently chef at Renzo and has spent the past several months working the land with local farm Spade + Clover. A Boston native and Culinary Institute of America grad, Gaudreau brings an immense love of food culture, anthropology and sharing great meals to Post House.Post House’s beverage program is a celebration of both old and new, bringing together spirit-driven classics and seasonally-inspired libations, as well as a varied, approachable wine list with bottles from all over the globe.

Built in 1896, 101 Pitt Street has a long-standing history as a neighborhood hub, housing a restaurant and inn for many decades. The space underwent a top-to-bottom renovation, in which the fitst-floor layout was reimagined by moving the bar to face Pitt Street, while the main dining room moved to the back, open to the outdoor courtyard. Kate Towill served as lead designer for the project, outfitting each space uniquely in stylish and functional antiques, vintage rugs, playful fabrics, local art, archival wallpaper and handcrafted fixtures. Inspired by travels to laid-back,seaside inns around the world, Towill brings both whimsy and character to the beloved building.

The inn at Post House opened on Monday, August 24 and features seven distinctly decorated rooms, a relaxing home away from home for staycationers and travelers alike. With oversized windows, original wood floors, fully renovated bathrooms, comfy beds, bespoke robes, and locally-curated mini bars, each Post House room features plenty of charm and comfort.

Post House is opened for dinner service starting August 22, with weekend brunch following soon. To make a dinner reservation, visit Resy. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday, 5 to 10 p.m. For hotel reservations, visit theposthouseinn.com. For more information about Post House, follow along on Instagram at @theposthouseinn.

Adam Gorlitsky! My Inspiration To Move Out Of My Comfort Zone

adam-rewalkMany of you know Adam as the first Paraplegic to walk the Cooper River Bridge Run/Walk, but I know him as an amazing person and friend. Ten years ago while at the wheel of his car, Adam dozed off and ran off the road. He awoke with a devastating outcome… a severed spinal cord and a new reality of life in a wheelchair.

Fast forward to last year when Adam was able to bring home the latest technology, a “ReWalk Exoskeleton” (a battery-pack based unit which he describes as a cross between Iron Man and Avatar). Needless to say, Adam is full steam ahead on this new chapter of his “walking upright” life, and he is committed to bridge the gap between what it means to be disabled and able-bodied.

My path crossed with Adam a few months back, while attending a luncheon at Tavern & Table (which, btw, I love!). Adam was the guest speaker, and little did I know, he would change my life…(well, at least my attitude). About how fortunate my life is, and how determination can help me achieve anything I set my mind to do!

A few weeks later, while at the gym (for the first time in months) I saw Adam and introduced myself.  I told him how he inspired me to up my game.  And next thing I know, his words set a fire in me… “Jackie, I challenge you to do a 1/2 marathon!”  And I, in turn said, “Adam, I challenge you to do the same.”  TOTALLY OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONES!  But we shook hands and on it and started a 24 week training program in preparation for the Walt Disney World Half-Marathon, in January of 2017.

The experience was AMAZING to say the least! And I am so proud of Adam, as he pushed himself to complete parts of the 5K, 10K and Full Marathon.

And what about my experience? I was super nervous for the run, but trained and ready. Then the bad weather came in… thunder and rain… and the Disney execs were forced to cancel the race. I looked at is my “GET OUT OF JAIL FREE” card and was thrilled to be able to skip the run and spend the day at the park with my family!  When I returned home, I was able to complete the Folly Beach “Save The Light” half marathon, and the experience was beyond words.  I would have never thought I could do such a thing, but with Adam’s inspiration, I am now proud to have the coveted “13.1” sticker on the back of my car!  Yeah!

Stay tuned to learn more about Adam and his 1 million steps tour, where he has dedicated himself to he raise money and awareness to help other paraplegics. Super inspiring stuff! Follow his journey at I GOT LEGS: Team Adam: One-Million Steps Tour.

Out Of Hand Introduces New Products, Services, And More!

OOH, I just adore Out Of Hand…  And if you have not been by recently, you are in for a pleasant surprise!  I asked Kate Wilson to take a moment to fill us in on everything new, so here goes… And be sure to mark your calendar for Oct 24th to attend the “Pitt Street Stroll!”  A night of family fun with Halloween inspiration, crafting and pumpkin decorating!  That’s right up my alley!!

From Kate…

“Our new Apothecary Shoppe features all natural, organic products that are great for your skin and the earth. We have an expert resident make-up artist and consultant, Devon Grigsby. Her bio is below:
I live in one of the prettiest places on earth, Charleston, South Carolina. I see beauty (and humor) in everything. Bees fascinate me. I love all things good.
I am a Makeup Artist and Skincare Consultant. I got my start behind the Estée Lauder counter a few moons ago, but like many, my talents really began as little girl experimenting with my mother’s makeup case.
A few years ago, I began to question the ingredients that I couldn’t pronounce in the products I was using everyday and never looked back. Today I work with high-performance, healthy beauty products that are free of nasty chemicals and never tested on animals. Oh, and I believe in the luxurious makeup counter experience, so no compromises here.
I am pleased as punch to share my knowledge with women of all ages to empower and inspire.

Thank you again and if you need anything further feel free to call my cell. 803.237.0194. Have a great day!

Thinking Of Selling? Read These Stats!

Since The Cassina Group was founded in 2006, we have rapidly expanded and have become a recognized leader in the Charleston real estate market. In 2011, our group handled 143 transactions and over $51 million in sales.  In 2012 we handled 235 transactions and over $96 million—which placed us in the top 2% of the Charleston MLS!  This is impressive, as we are a small office with about 12 agents.

As of today, July 1, 2013 we are on pace to far exceed these figures with over 147 transactions sold and $58 million in business closed thus far! On a personal note, I am on track to close more this year than I have closed in any given year…. Ever!

If you are thinking about selling your home, I ask you to consider listing with me! I am committed to providing fast, professional and courteous personal service to help you understand and feel at ease throughout the home selling process. From setting the price to creating marketing campaigns for traditional media and the Web, we have a proven plan that will match your home with the right buyers for the right price. Our results are clear:

*Our homes are on the market for significantly fewer days… Cassina Listings were on the market for an average of 31 days as compared to the Charleston MLS average of 96 days.

*We get our sellers a larger percentage of their asking price…Cassina Listings received 95.6% of their asking price as compared to the Charleston MLS average of 90.1%

*I sell the Old Village/ Old Mt. Pleasant.   Since starting my business in 2000, I have been a top producer in the neighborhood, finishing consistently in the top 1% of all agents (.4% to be  specific!)

I specialize in the in this neighborhood and would love the opportunity to provide you with a free competitive market analysis of your home or help you learn more about market trends and more. Stop by and see me at my office, located at 309 Coleman!
